Lift Chairs
In the past, the physically challenged did not have the various media like lift chairs to assist them in every day living that are available today, thanks to modern and improving technology. Of course, awareness has also assisted in the development of the lift chair for the handicap. With a La Z Boy lift chair, disabled people are able to rise easily from a comfortable reclined position in a cushioned arm chair without assistance. Motorized hydraulics also controls the Golden lift chairs that have been developed for the same purpose, allowing handicapped persons more freedom and independence in their own homes. Even the Pride lift chairs have been advanced to assist the physically challenged in rising to the occasion, so to speak. There is even a kind of bathtub lift chair available to assist individuals in and out of the tub conveniently.
These reclining lift chairs are much like a standard recliner in many ways, allowing any individual to sit back, raise a foot stool, and even fully recline for a rested position. However, the recliner lift chairs take this convenience in the other direction, as well. The power lift chairs incorporate a remote that actually lifts the individual up out of the seat. The hydraulic motor pushes the seat cushion to an angle in the opposite direction of the reclining system, forcing an incline and lifting at the same time, so that it practically stands the handicapped individual upright. Each recliner lift chair varies as to the final angle, but all offer an incredibly advanced system to assure that the disabled or elderly individual can get out of the deep, cozy chair alone. The manufacturers of these chairs carry all manner of lift chair parts, as well, in case a motor, lever, or other important part of the chair breaks or malfunctions.
Of course, another avenue of “rising up” that has advanced in the industry is the chair lift. The stairway chair lift has improved greatly, with an ability to carry a great deal more weight and better secure the chair. There is even an option for a wheel chair stair lift that will curve around spiral staircases, allowing handicap individuals to live in any home they please. The wheel chair lift options have been greatly improved over the last decades by a vast amount of research and development to obtain a sense of real independence on the part of the physically challenged individual.
